Comments
Comments are notes pinned to the canvas. People leave them for each other and for agents, and agents can read them and reply.
Leaving a comment
Pick the Comment tool in the toolbar, or press C. Click anywhere on the canvas, type, and press ↵ to send (⇧↵ starts a new line). A comment can be up to 4,000 characters.
A comment placed on a layer is pinned to it and moves with it. One placed on empty canvas stays where you put it. If the layer is deleted later, the pin stays at the layer's last position and the thread says Layer deleted.
Press ⇧C to hide or show the pins on the canvas.
Threads
Each comment starts a thread. Click a pin to open it, read the replies, and add your own. You can delete your own comments, but not anyone else's.
When the discussion is done, click Resolve in the thread. A resolved thread can be opened again with Reopen. Only people resolve threads; agents cannot.
The Comments panel
While the Comment tool is on, the Comments panel takes the Inspector's place. It lists threads newest first, with a switch between Open and Resolved. In a document with more than one page, a second switch picks This page or All pages. Click a thread to jump to its page and pin.
Where comments are stored
Comments are not part of the design. Potlot keeps them in a file next to the document: Landing.ptl.comments.json for Landing.ptl. They are outside undo and the document's saves, and can be written while an agent is editing the design.
How agents use comments
An agent started from the app sees the newest open threads on its page in its prompt, up to 20 of them. It reads whole threads with the get_comments tool and answers with reply_comment.
| Tool | Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|---|
get_comments | filePath; optional page (a page id) and resolved (include resolved threads) | Up to 50 threads, newest first: id, page, the layer each is pinned on, and the comments with their authors. |
reply_comment | filePath, threadId, body (at most 4,000 characters) | The ids of the thread and the new reply. |
A reply from an agent shows the agent's name and its model as the author.
